The public park is often utilized by families and for recreational use.

"I knew it went on and I had heard recently that police were out here," said mother and bike rider Dawn Hart.

Hart often uses the trails around the lake for bike rides.

"I didn't know that the number was that high," Hart said.

The police have been aware of the growing problem and have made dozens of arrests in the past.

"I can't say whether five years from now whether it will be the same," Wardow said. "We are proactive in our approach in trying to eliminate this."

Despite the recent activity at Hobie Point, police assure people the area is safe for families.
